Spain Residency & Tax Strategy

Spanish Digital Nomad Visa:
The 2026 Authority Guide

The definitive roadmap for Non-EU remote workers. Secure your 3-year residency, protect your income with the Beckham Law, and navigate the UGE-CE application process.

Check Your Eligibility

Core Eligibility Pillars

The Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) is designed for non-EU nationals. To qualify, you must meet four strict criteria established by the Ley de Startups.

Financial Solvency

You must prove a monthly income of 200% of the SMI. We analyze your bank statements and invoices to ensure they meet the specific UGE-CE calculation methods.

Remote Authorization

A simple letter isn't enough. You need an explicit authorization from your employer (or contracts if freelance) stating that work can be performed "from Spain."

Qualification

You must provide either a University Degree (Apostilled) OR proof of 3 years of experience in your specific role.

Contract History

The relationship with your employer or clients must have existed for at least 3 months prior to the application date.

2026 Income Thresholds

Based on 200% of the Spanish Minimum Wage (SMI). These figures are non-negotiable.

Family Unit Calculation (SMI) Monthly Required (Approx)
Main Applicant 200% €2,700
Spouse +75% + €1,012
First Child +25% + €337
Family of 4 Total ~€4,386

The Juro Advantage

Don't Just Move.
Optimize.

Most agencies just file the visa. We file the Tax Strategy. The DNV unlocks the "Beckham Law", allowing you to opt-out of the progressive Spanish tax system (up to 47%) and pay a flat rate on your foreign income.

Valid for 6 years.

The #1 Reason for Rejection: Social Security

Most "DIY" applications fail here. You cannot just buy private insurance. You must prove you are covered by a state system.

For Employees (Certificate of Coverage)

If your country (UK, USA, etc.) has a bilateral agreement with Spain, your HR must issue a Certificate of Coverage. Warning: The USA/UK often refuse to issue this for remote workers. If you cannot get this certificate, you will be rejected.

For Freelancers (The RETA Solution)

This is the safer route. Freelancers simply register as Autónomo in Spain. This guarantees Social Security coverage and satisfies the UGE-CE requirement instantly. We often recommend employees switch to a B2B contractor model to pass this check.

The Document Vault

All foreign documents must be Apostilled and Sworn Translated.

Valid Passport (Full Copy)
Criminal Record Cert (Apostilled)
Private Health Insurance (No Copay)
Employer Authorization Letter
Degree or CV (3 Years Experience)
Proof of Income (Bank Statements)

Common Questions

Can I bring my family?

Yes. You can include your spouse and children. You must demonstrate an additional 75% SMI for the spouse and 25% SMI per child.

How long is the visa valid for?

When applied for from within Spain (which we recommend), the initial permit is granted for 3 years. It can then be renewed for another 2 years.

Can I work for a Spanish company too?

Yes, but with limits. You can earn up to 20% of your total income from Spanish sources. The remaining 80% must come from outside Spain.
